Washington’s Army arrived at Valley Forge as an ill-fed, ragged and indifferently trained organization. They left six months later with vastly improved training and logistical support as a result of the combined efforts of General Washington and his staff.

1,622 officers entered Valley Forge in December 1777. 1,308 remained after June 1778. While most of the reduction was a result of resignations, some left for other reasons.
