Valley Forge Images

The Images of Valley Forge are created by award-winning artist, Michael Ticcino. Until now, many of the moments of American history at Valley Forge and the inspiration of today’s Park that encapsulates them have not been fully realized. Using a combination of camera and computer, Michael’s work is haunting and evocative. Images communicate the melancholy of Washington’s army, the enduring spirit to win American independence and the ethereal presence of the 1777–1778 Encampment that still exists at Valley Forge National Historical Park.

About the Artist

Michael is an award winning image maker. He works digitally, using a camera and computer to create his pieces. Michael will tell you that sometimes the process begins and ends with the camera, and sometimes the camera is only the start. Whatever it may be, it is driven by his passion.

He began shooting in Valley Forge and digitally rendering those landscapes with various textures and color to reflect a particular mood or ambiance. This spread to other local historical places like the Daniel Boone Homestead and the John James Audubon Center, the first U.S. home of the famous wildlife artist.

After years of rendering historical imagery he began to develop interests in fantasy and surrealism. Electronically clipping and pasting pieces of photography together, he assembled scenes of fantasy which quickly turned into photo surrealism.

Michael is a long standing member of the Valley Forge Park Alliance. A former native of Valley Forge, he currently lives Wilmington, NC with a very supportive family including Hailey, their new puppy.
